Why should you care who is elected to the board of equalization?

My Legislative voting record affirms that I am a strong advocate for the taxpayer, and will strive to help you reach an early resolution to “taxing” issues.  The Board of Equalization provides the Taxpayer an opportunity to resolve a tax or fee dispute with a state taxing agency in lieu of merely resorting to suing the State.

The BOE’s appeals program, allows the taxpayer to interface with an elected representative, and service-oriented staff at local offices, rather than what can become a frustrated effort dealing with the original taxing agency’s bureaucracy.  The appeals process covers both taxes administered by BOE and franchise and income taxes administered by the Franchise Tax Board (FTB). A taxpayer who disagrees with a BOE assessment can frequently resolve the disagreement with BOE staff, working on behalf of the elected representative, before a dispute becomes an actual appeal.  (CLICK TO READ MORE)
